Brave '15's beaten by late goals (15.11.09)

Coventry Minor Football League

Under 15 - C Division

Coventrians 4 v Bourton & Frankton 2

A game Bourton's youngsters should of won and came so close to doing so.

After conceding an early goal, a battling first half performance saw some good individual goals from the visitors. On 20 minutes, Connor Jacques picked the ball up 40 yards out, took it through the defence before slotting home past the keeper, The second goal came nine minutes later from Ashley Whitehead, who had the confidence to take players on and round the keeper to slot home (no doubt words of wisdom from his Dad and Grandad rubbing off)

This gave Bourton some confidence, but Coventrians pressed hard which brought out some brave defending from Bourton with two goal line clearances from Ollie Britton and Terry Morgans.

So, the visitors 1-2  ahead at half time and Bourton started the second half well but were ultimately undone conceding three goals in 10 minutes of madness, all down to individual errors. That was compounded with the ever threatening Ashley Whitehead going off injured. The boys kept battling; Robert Barnett going close with 10 minutes to go from a through ball from Lewis Cutts that went over the cross bar and Jamie Morgans also pushing the ball wide when through on goal.

MOM - Terry Morgan -  Tremendous defending  throughout the game and never gave up.
