Three unbeaten for Reserves with sound success at Shiton (31.10.09)
Coventry Alliance Football League Division 5
Shilton Reserves 2 Bourton & Frankton Reserves 4
B & F Reserves capped a good afternoon for the club as they also came from behind to also snatch victory late in their game at Shilton.
It was a good performance from the Reserves who have now gone 3 games unbeaten in the league. They picked up from where they left off in the second half from last week's cup defeat at Copsewood Reserves by starting the game strongly and takinf the lead. A Steve Beauchop corner was flicked on at the near post by Chris Shorey and Paul Kenyon finished smartly at the far post. When it looked like Bourton could run away with the game, then came the sucker punch came midway through the first half when a corner from their left which was finished at the near post. The game was an even contest up to half time with Bourton denied a definite penalty when John Forrester was pulled back as he ran into the penalty area.
Shilton started the second half brightly and dominated the game for 20 minutes after the break. This dominance was rewarded when the Shilton striker rifled a half volley from 20 yards which beat Rich Parsons at the near post. Shilton spurned some good chances and were made to rue those errors in the last 15 minutes as Bourton upped their game. A Malc Smith free kick from the left was met by Chris Shorey who glanced the ball past the keeper for 2-2.
That soon became 3-2 as Beauchop slid the ball for Adam Heath to finish. With five minutes to go, a John Forrester corner was met by John Day who placed his header past the goalkeeper to seal the points.
