Top triumph for 1st's at Triumph (17.10.09)
Coventry Alliance Football League
A W Engraving Premier Division
Triumph Athletic 0 Bourton & Frankton 3
A great all-round team performance from Bourton saw them come away from Triumph with a deserved 3-0 success.
At times, the visitors played some great football, creating several chances with Justin Neal hitting a post, a Mark Whitehead effort going over the bar and Robert Crinigan forcing a fine save from the home keeper. Eventually the Bourton persistence was rewarded with them going in front on the stroke of half time. The goal came when a break down the right wing between Crinigan and Neal was squared to Whitehead whose shot from 18 yards found its way into the net via a deflection for a goal against former club.
The second half got off to a frantic start as Triumph pushed on looking to get back into the game, however after weathering the storm Bourton settled back down and started to take control of the game again. Crinigan's strong run in the box ended up with the defender bringing him down for a penalty, which the striker converted to make it 2-0 on the hour. Further chances saw Neal have an effort cleared off the line, and Catlow fire narrowly wide, before Crinigan wrapped the game up with 15 minutes left; bursting through onto Matty Coburn's through ball and slotting the ball into the corner for 3-0.
A great win on the road for Bourton who continue to look at home in the top flight. Special mention to the defence who played superb with captain Chris A'Barrow outstanding.
